Veterinary Rehabilitation Therapists diagnose and treat a wide range of musculoskeletal and neurologic disorders using human physiotherapy treatment principles, tested and adapted to suit canine and feline patients.  We therefore use various modalities like laser, PEMF and TENS/EMS, as well as soft tissue therapies (myofascial trigger point release, massage, and  joint mobilisations) and therapeutic exercises to improve neural and musculoskeletal function.

The approach to each patient is unique to their needs and collaborative with you and your vet. We start with an initial 1.5 to 2 hour assessment of your pet’s gait, posture, stance, joint ranges of motion, muscle tone and neurologic status to identify primary and secondary problems.  We then develop a treatment plan based on your pet’s problems, tissue healing rates and your goals for their comfort and function.  You and your vet will receive a full written report outlining our findings and treatment suggestions within 48 hours of your appointment.

We provide regular treatment sessions at varying intervals over 8 to 12 weeks designed to suit you and your pet, and regularly assess your pet’s progress to modify their treatment plan as required.  After this initial time frame, depending on the underlying problems, we may recommend ongoing visits to maintain your pet’s function and comfort.

Our Certified Canine Rehabilitation team can also recommend appropriate assistive devices including harnesses, carts, orthotics and prosthetics.  We:

  • fit, sell and hire Walkin’ Wheels Wheelchairs,
  • fit and sell a range of Help Em Up Harnesses which are not only extremely durable and very comfortable for your pet to wear and be lifted in, but also can really help reduce the strain on your back too,
  • fit and sell a range of Caerus Animal Rehab devices, including their adjustable Performance Stifle Brace which help patients with cruciate ligament disease move more comfortably,
  • fit and organise individually made Orthopets orthotics and prosthetics.

Our goal is to improve your pet’s function and quality of life, and we are sure you will see results!
